Orthotics, braces and compression wear in Scarborough
Physio Cottage supplies custom orthotics, orthopedic braces and medical compression stockings and socks, measured and fitted at the clinic by our physiotherapists and trained staff. Every product starts with an assessment, so what you take home matches your body and your goals.
What we supply
Three product lines, all fitted in the clinic
Each product has its own page with details on who it suits, how the fitting works and what to expect afterward.
Custom orthotics
Insoles made from a cast or scan of your feet, prescribed for foot, ankle, knee, hip and lower back symptoms linked to how you stand and walk. Our physiotherapist assesses your gait before anything is ordered.
Orthopedic braces
Supports for knees, ankles, wrists, elbows, shoulders and the back, chosen and fitted for your injury or condition. Bracing is often combined with physiotherapy so the joint is supported while it recovers.
Compression stockings and socks
Medical compression wear in several sizes, styles and compression levels for leg swelling, tired or aching legs, varicose veins and recovery after surgery. We measure your legs so the fit is correct.
How it works
From assessment to fitting
Assessment
A physiotherapist reviews your symptoms, history and movement, and checks whether a product is the right step or whether treatment alone would serve you better.
Measurement
Feet are cast or scanned for orthotics, joints are measured for braces, and legs are measured for compression wear, following the manufacturer sizing for each product.
Fitting
When the product arrives you try it on at the clinic. We check the fit, show you how to put it on and take it off, and adjust where needed.
Follow up
Most products have a break in period. We tell you what normal feels like, what is not normal, and when to come back for a check.
Paying for products
Insurance, billing and prescriptions
Many extended health plans cover custom orthotics, braces and compression stockings when a prescription is on file. Plans differ in what they need, so check your policy or bring the plan details to your appointment. We provide the paperwork your insurer asks for and offer direct billing where your plan allows it.

- Products are ordered after your assessment, not off the shelf.
- You can combine a product with physiotherapy, massage therapy, chiropractic care or acupuncture at the same clinic.
