What the Journal covers and why
The Physio Cottage Journal publishes plain-language guides on physiotherapy, massage therapy, chiropractic care, acupuncture, pelvic health, recovery after injury or surgery, workplace and motor vehicle accident injuries, and living with chronic pain. It is written for people in Scarborough and across Toronto who want a clear answer before, between or after appointments.
Every article has one job: to help you understand a condition or a treatment, know what to expect in a session, and recognize when to see a regulated health professional. An article is general information. It is not a diagnosis and it does not replace an assessment of your own situation.
Who publishes the Journal
The Journal is published by Physio Cottage, a physiotherapist owned and operated clinic at 2231 Victoria Park Ave, Unit #5, Scarborough, Ontario. The clinic offers the services the Journal writes about, and we say so plainly: each article links to the related service page and ends with an invitation to book an assessment. The Journal carries no advertising and no sponsored articles. If that ever changes, the article will say so at the top.
Who writes and reviews the articles
Maryam Ahankoob, Registered Physiotherapist and founder of Physio Cottage, is the author and clinical reviewer of every article in the Journal. She is registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and has practised physiotherapy for more than 15 years. Each article carries her byline at the top and an “About the author and clinical reviewer” note at the end. No article is published under a pen name or a generic account.
Where an article touches another regulated profession, such as chiropractic care, massage therapy or acupuncture, it describes what those practitioners do in general terms and points readers to the practitioner for advice about their own care.
Accuracy and sources
Clinical statements in the Journal follow current guidance from Canadian and Ontario health regulators and from peer-reviewed clinical research. Where it helps the reader, we link to the official page of a regulator, a public health body or an Ontario program so you can read the original yourself. We do not cite commercial product vendors as sources, and we do not describe treatment outcomes the clinic cannot promise.
Facts about coverage, such as OHIP, WSIB, motor vehicle accident benefits and extended health plans, are checked against the program’s published rules at the time of writing and are dated in plain words where the detail can change. Your own plan or claim decides what applies to you, so we ask readers to confirm with their insurer or case manager.
Dates and updates
Every article shows the date it was published. An “Updated” date appears only when the substance of the article has changed: new facts, changed advice or a corrected error. Changes to wording, formatting or links do not change the date. We never move a date forward to make an article look newer than it is.
Corrections and feedback
If you believe something in the Journal is wrong or unclear, please tell us. Our Corrections page explains how to report an error, what happens next and how a correction note appears on the article. You can also call (416) 445-5353 during clinic hours, Monday to Friday 10 am to 8 pm and Saturday 9 am to 5 pm, or email physiocottage@gmail.com with the link to the article.
